Exercise tends to make your skin greasy and oily. This in turn means that it creates a perfect platform for acne to develop. Acne and lifestyle is in your hands. You of course cannot avoid exercising and turn into a couch potato all together. A fair amount of research has been done to establish the relation between exercise and acne. A recent study shows that there can be variations in the effect that exercise has on different individuals.

You of course cannot opt for an unhealthy lifestyle by avoiding exercising altogether fearing that it would lead to acne breakouts. It is therefore important that you take preventive measures to ensure that you exercise daily, but do not get any acne breakouts. Here are some tips:

First, always keep your hair from falling on to your face. The sweat that is released as an effect of exercise can affect the hair and scalp. This may even run down onto the face causing breakouts. This condition will be further aggravated by the use of any hair care product. You must thus ensure that your hair doesn’t fall on to your face, in order to avoid getting acne through exercise.

Secondly, you must select your exercise equipments carefully so that they don’t give you acne. Avoid using any type of equipments which rub against your skin. This can cause friction and encourage the development of acne. Also, when you exercise in a public gym, always ensure that the equipments are clean before using them. In places, where the equipments are used by many people, you may have high chances of getting the germs left by other people.

Wear light cloths while working out. This also helps in preventing acne. Ensure that the clothes that you are wearing are light, loose, and comfortable to wear. This will also prevent the friction between the skin and clothes. This will allow the skin to breathe and thus avoid any occurrences of acne.

Take a shower as soon as you can after your workout session. This will wash away the sweat accumulated due to the exercising, and thus avoid acne breakouts. If you have acne prone skin then you must follow a good acne treatment regimen to keep the breakouts at bay.

You must also take care to keep your sportswear and linen clean to avoid acne breakouts. This is especially in case of headbands and wristbands, which accumulate a great amount of sweat. Sanitize and clean the towels well.

Exercise can also have a positive effect on acne by making you stress free. When you are stress free, the hormones in the body are also well balanced. This can also go a long way in speeding up your acne treatment process, if you are using any.
